CEN Workshop Agreements
Typically include technical specifications, which are determined by the participants in the workshop. Workshop Agreements are not formal standards, but can, at a later stage, undergo a formal standardization process.

EN
European standard published by CEN or CENELEC.
ETSI
European Telecommunications Standards Institute: European standardization organization, with members from telecommunications companies, network operators etc. preparing European standards in the field of telecommunications.

Final Draft International Standard.

Guidelines for standardization technical aspects.
HD
Harmonization document. A normative document which is drawn up in accordance with the same rules applicable to a European standard. Only used in CENELEC.
IEC
International Electrotechnical Commission. IEC prepares international standards in the field of electrotechnical engineering.
INSTA
Inter Nordic Standardization Association.
ISO
International Organization for Standardization. ISO prepares international standards in all areas not covered by IEC or ITU.

Guidelines for standardization technical aspects in ISO/IEC standards.
International standardization
standardization in which involvement is open to relevant bodies from all countries.
ITU
International Telecommunications Union. ITU develops international standards for telecommunications.
Consensus
General agreement, characterized by the absence of sustained opposition to substantial issues by any important part of the concerned interests, and by a process that involves seeking to take into account the views of all parties concerned and to reconcile any conflicting arguments

National standardization
Standardization that takes place at the level of one specific country
NOTE – Within a country or a territorial part of a country, standardization can also be carried out at industry or sector levels (e.g. ministries), at local levels, at company and association levels in industry, as well as in individual factories, workshops and offices.
NSB
National Standards Body. Danish Standards is NSB for Denmark
PAS
Publicly Available Standards. A normative document which requires consensus in a working group and is approved by correspondence or at a meeting.
PC
Project Committee. Project Committee under the auspices of ISO.
prEN
Proposal for European standard prepared by CEN or CENELEC.
Regional standardization
standardization in which involvement is open to relevant bodies from countries from only one geographical, political, or economic area of the world.
SC
Subcommittee. Subcommittee of European or international standardization work.
Standardization
activity of establishing, with regard to actual or potential problems, provisions for common and repeated use, aimed at the achievement of the optimum degree of order in a given context
NOTE 1 – The activity consists mainly in the processes of formulating, publishing, and implementing standards.
NOTE 2 – Important benefits of standardization are an improvement of the suitability of products, processes and services for their intended purposes, prevention of barriers to trade and facilitation of technological cooperation.
Standard
document, established by consensus and approved by a recognized body, which provides, for common and repeated use, rules, guidelines or characteristics for activities or their results, aimed at the achievement of the optimum degree of order in a given context
NOTE – Standards should be based on the consolidated results of science, technology, and experience, and aimed at the promotion of optimum community benefits.
S Committee
Standardization committees under Danish Standards.
TC
Technical Committee. Subcommittee of European or international standardization work.
TMB/SMB
Technical Management Board/Standardization Management Board. Technical boards of ISO or IEC, respectively
TS
Technical Specification. Normative document having a lower status than a standard, as it is based on a lower level of consensus than a standard.
TR
Technical Report. Informative document, which may contain any kind of information of interest to the market.
UAP
Unique Acceptance Procedure. An approval procedure in CEN/CENELEC that allows for the combination of consultation and final vote with a three or five-month voting period. This procedure results in faster publication of the completed standard and is used, for instance, if the contents of the standard are expected to achieve a high degree of consensus.
WG
Working Group. Working Group under a TC or SC.
WTO
World Trade Organization. International organization for trade between nations aimed at assisting manufacturers of goods and services (both exports and imports) so that world trade can be as smooth as possible. Moreover, with the WTO, the ambition is to achieve further liberalization through negotiations.
