Guidelines for Danish quality tourism – because the whole experience counts

Guidelines for Danish quality tourism are a guide to work focused and systematically with quality and service improvements in the tourism sector. The guidelines are based on the basic quality improvement principles of the Quality Management standard, ISO 9001, but have been adapted and interpreted for the work of the tourism industry.

The guidelines can be used by destination organizations as well as private and public players, regardless of size and complexity. For players and destination organizations, a number of technical subjects have been selected – e.g. satisfaction surveys, communication and branding – which are of particular importance for the perception of quality and service by tourists. The guidelines on quality tourism are based on the fact that most of the tourist industry is already working successfully with the technical aspects of the issues and, instead, offer an overall framework or method for bringing the issues together to create development within the organization through targeted quality and service improvements.

In addition to creating coherent business development in the individual enterprise or organization, the guidelines also focus on cross-sectional cooperation in the tourism sector and the possibility of creating synergy effects. Thus, the guidelines can also̊ be used by various collaborative constellations to set common goals and frameworks for what good quality and service is.

DS/EN 17161:2019 Design for All – Accessibility following a Design for All approach in products, goods and services – Extending the range of users

This standard specifies requirements that enable an organization to design, develop and provide products, goods and services so that they can be accessed, understood and used by the widest range of users, including persons with disabilities.

The standard promotes accessibility following a Design for All approach in mainstream products, goods and services and interoperability of these with assistive technologies.

This standard specifies requirements and recommendations that enable an organization to extend their range of users by identifying diverse needs, characteristics, capabilities, and preferences. This can enable an organization to meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements as related to the accessibility of its products, goods and services.

The requirements set out in this standard are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size, or products, goods and services provided.

This document does not provide technical design specifications and does not imply uniformity in the design or functionality of products, goods and services.

DS Handbook 186:2017 Guide – Accessibility in BR18 – Compared to DS/ISO 21542

This guidance on accessibility in buildings was prepared by Danish Standards in collaboration with the Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority. The guidance focuses on the relationship between the Danish Building Regulations 2018 (BR18) and DS/ISO 21542:2012, partly on the extent to which DS/ISO 21542:2012 can be used to take into account the BR18's requirements for accessibility in buildings. DS/ISO 21542:2012 addresses a wider spectrum of accessibility perspectives than BR18. This guidance clearly indicates what the minimum level of legislation is – the guidance should be used in conjunction with DS: ISO 21542:2012.
