In Denmark, we use Danish Kroner (Crowns). 1 Euro is approximately equal to DKK 7.50.

Weather

Denmark has a temperate climate, moderated by the warm Gulf Stream. Denmark has four distinct seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. The spring months of April and May are mild, and the summer months of June, July and August are the hottest. Autumn runs from September to November and tends to be rainy and cloudy. The winter months of December to March are normally cold, with frost and snow.

Safety and health

Copenhagen is a safe city to visit but pay special attention to pickpockets, especially around the Central station, City Hall Square and the pedestrian street “Strøget”.

Call (+45) 112 for life threatening emergencies and ask for the police, fire department or ambulance service.

Call (+45) 1813 for injuries or sudden illness and speak to a nurse or doctor, or to go to a hospital accident and emergency department.

Call (+45) 114 for police, when it is not an emergency.

Taxi

Metered taxis are plentiful in Copenhagen and can be flagged down  anywhere in the city. Fares include service charges, so tips are not expected. Most taxis accept major credit cards. Should you wish to pay with a credit card, let the driver know before the ride begins.

Transport to Danish Standards

From Copenhagen Airport (CPH) by metro

The Copenhagen Metro runs to and from Copenhagen Airport. The Metro station is located in Terminal 3. Take the Metro (M1 or M2) to Nørreport Station (it runs approx. every 5 minutes). Change to the S-train – Line C towards Klampenborg, Line E towards Holte, Line B towards Farum or Line A towards Hillerød – and get off at Nordhavn Station. Danish Standards is located at “Göteborg Plads 1” in the Nordhavn area. Our office is the “Portland Towers” (two silos), which is approximately 500 meters from the station.

In 2020, the new metro line, M4 will open up at Nordhavn station. You will then be able to take M1 or M2 to Kgs. Nytorv and then change to M4 towards Orientkaj and get off at Nordhavn.

From Copenhagen Airport (CPH) by train

Alternatively, take the Øresund train directly from the Airport (Terminal 3) to Copenhagen Central Station. Change to the S-train – Line C towards Klampenborg, Line E towards Holte, Line B towards Farum or Line A towards Hillerød – and get off at Nordhavn Station. Danish Standards is located at “Göteborg Plads 1” in the Nordhavn area. Our office is the “Portland Towers” (two silos), which is approximately 500 meters from the station. You can see the towers from the station platform.

There are 3 zones from Copenhagen Airport to Nordhavn Station, and the cost of the journey is DKK 36.

From Copenhagen Central Station (København H)

Take the S-train – Line C towards Klampenborg, Line E towards Holte, Line B towards Farum or Line A towards Hillerød– and get off at Nordhavn Station. Danish Standards is located at “Göteborg Plads” in the Nordhavn area. Our office is the “Portland Towers” (two silos), which is approximately 500 meters from the station.

There are 2 zones from Copenhagen Central Station to Nordhavn Station, and the cost of the journey is DKK 24

Meeting information

Internet connection

Each meeting room is provided with high-speed wireless internet access. Please see information in the meeting room.

Lunch

The lunch break is normally from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Lunch tickets must be bought at the reception desk prior to the lunch break.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in the building, nor on the 12th floor terrace. Take the elevator to ground floor and go outside.

Plug, socket & voltage

In Denmark we use 230 V ac and IEC plug K. The well-known Europlug will work in all places too. Please make sure to bring a proper adapter, as Danish Standards cannot supply such adapters.
